Kasturi Haldar’s PLOS Pathogens Journey: A Farewell Tribute

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Today, we bid farewell to one of our longest-serving companions, someone who has illuminated our journey for about two decades – Kasturi Haldar. As her time with us comes to an end, it’s impossible to put into words the immense impact she has had on PLOS Pathogens in particular, and to PLOS’ mission as a whole.

Kasturi joined PLOS Pathogens in its first year, and has been steering the journal as Co-Editor-in-Chief for nearly two decades. She consistently poured her heart and soul into propelling PLOS Pathogens forward, pushing boundaries, and advocating for the pathogens research community. She has been a powerful voice for the Pathogens editorial board and the community, as well as a source of wisdom and a true embodiment of PLOS’ values.

But her influence goes far beyond the journal itself. She has cultivated a culture of excellence and keeps inspiring her colleagues with her passion. During her tenure, she not only has been co-leading Pathogens, but has been a mentor, a confidant, and a friend.

As we bid adieu to Kasturi, we do so with a profound sense of gratitude for her unwavering dedication and an immense appreciation for all she has brought to PLOS.

But, we also look ahead with optimism and confidence. PLOS Pathogens will continue to develop to meet the needs of our research community and will be led by Editor-in-Chief Michael Malim supported by the editorial  leadership team of Section Editors, and our broader Academic Editor and peer reviewer community.

We are and remain profoundly grateful for Kasturi’s unwavering dedication and an immense appreciation for all she has brought to PLOS, and invite you all to join us in celebrating Kasturi’s contributions.

Thank you so much Kasturi, you leave an indelible mark on PLOS Pathogens, and your legacy will forever inspire us.
